Ingredients

  • A combined total of 1 1/4 cups and 2 teaspoons of sugar
  • 1 cup of self-rising flour
  • Ideally, one cup of whole milk, but any kind will do
  • Equivalent to half a stick of butter, melted
  • Washed and dried 2 cups of blackberries, either fresh or frozen
  • Vanilla ice cream (for serving)

Instructions

  • Make sure to add the berries after they are completely frozen if using frozen ones. They will be mushy and the consistency will be off if you let them thaw.
  • Set the oven's temperature to 350.
  • In a big basin, mix one cup of flour and one cup of sugar.
  • Milk and melted butter are added after stirring. Combine thoroughly after mixing.
  • Pour into a 9 x 9-inch baking dish that has been buttered.
  • Place the berries all over the top. As they bake, they will be sunk in even more.
  • 2 teaspoons of sugar should be saved for later.
  • For 50 minutes, bake. After removing it from the oven, sprinkle the remaining two teaspoons of sugar over the top of it.
  • Bake for another 10 minutes, or until the crust is brown and golden.
  • Serve right away, naturally with ice cream!
