Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
Combine flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
Add the cold, cubed butter and use a pastry cutter or fork to cut it into the dry ingredients until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Add in the buttermilk and stir until the dough becomes thick.
Put the dough on a plane surface and gently knead it a few times.
Roll the dough to 1/2-inch thickness and use a round cookie cutter to cut out biscuits.
Place the biscuits on an ungreased baking sheet.
Set the timing for 12-15 minutes and bake.
