Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can (15 oz) pinto beans, drained
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper

Instructions

  • In a large pot, brown the ground beef and chopped onion over medium heat. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Add the kidney beans, pinto beans, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Stir well.
  • Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Serve hot, garnished with shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions.
