Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 pound Italian sausage
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato paste
  • 2 cans (6 ounces each) tomato sauce
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons dried basil
  • 2 teaspoons dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 12 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
  • 4 cups ricotta cheese
  • 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 eggs

Instructions

Prepare the Meat Sauce

  • In a large skillet or saucepan, cook the ground beef and Italian sausage over medium-high heat until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the finely diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet, then cook until they turn translucent and fragrant.

Add Tomato Sauce

  • Mix in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, and tomato sauce, stirring them into the sauce.
  • Add sugar, dried basil, dried oregano, salt, and pepper to taste. Mix well.
  • Allow the sauce to simmer gently for approximately 15 to 20 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld together. Remove it from the heat once done.

Prepare the Cheese Mixture

  • In a mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, 2 cups of shredded mozzarella cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, chopped parsley, and eggs. Mix until well combined.

Assemble the Lasagna

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large lasagna baking dish, spread a thin layer of the meat sauce on the bottom to prevent sticking.
  • Place a layer of cooked lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  • Spread a portion of the cheese mixture over the noodles.
  • Add another layer of meat sauce.
  • Repeat the layering process until you've used up all the ingredients, finishing with a layer of meat sauce on top.

Bake

  • To prevent excessive browning the baking dish with aluminum foil.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 30 minutes.

Uncover and Finish Baking

  • Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the lasagna is bubbly, and the top is golden brown.

Rest and Serve

  • Allow the lasagna to rest for about 10 minutes before slicing. This process assists in solidifying the layers and simplifies the serving procedure.
  • Serve hot, and enjoy your delicious Kyle Richards Lasagna!
