Over medium-high heat in a large skillet heat the vegetable oil. Brown the cube steaks on both sides, then transfer them to your crockpot.
In the same skillet, add the sliced onions and cook until they become translucent.
Pour in the beef broth and use a whisk to scrape up any browned bits from the bottom of the skillet. Pour this mixture over the cube steaks in the crockpot.
Cover the crockpot and cook on low for 6-8 hours or until the cube steaks are tender and the gravy has thickened.
