Ina Garten Lobster Roll

Ina Garten Lobster Roll

Ina Garten, also known as Barefoot Contessa—two names that nearly all Americans are familiar with—prepares lobster rolls using some of her many recipes.

Even though there are a lot of alternative ways to create lobster rolls, I’m going to stick with the recipe that Ina Garten developed.

However, you are allowed to include or exclude anything other than the lobster and the roll in your order if you so want.

What is Ina Garten Lobster Roll made of?

The traditional New England lobster roll popularized by Ina Garten consists of a toasted hot dog-style bun stuffed with lobster flesh and other ingredients including lemon juice, butter, salt, and black pepper.

While some people prefer to use mayonnaise in place of the butter, Ina Garten prefers to keep things as close to the original as possible, though she does add some chopped celery for flavor and presentation.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. of prepared lobster
  • 1/2 cup of celery cut into small cubes
  • 5 teaspoons of unsalted butter
  • Kosher salt
  • Fresh black pepper, just ground
  • 1/2 teaspoon of minced fresh dill, with more for presentation
  • 1/2 tsp. of finely chopped fresh parsley
  • In 1 lemon’s juice
  • Six hot dog buns

Instructions

  1. Cut lobster meat into 3/4-inch dice.
  2. Medium-high heat in a medium sautes skillet with 3 tablespoons of butter.
  3. Stirring continuously, simmer the lobster with the celery for two to three minutes, or until the lobster is heated through.
  4. Remove the lobster from the flames and stir in the parsley, dill, and half of the lemon juice.
  5. Cook the last 2 tablespoons of butter in a big saute pan.
  6. Then, brown the rolls for 2 minutes on each side over medium-high heat after toasting them on their sides.
  7. On a platter with the cut side up, distribute the lobster mixture among the rolls. Add lemon juice, salt, and dill.
  8. Finally, serve your Ina Garten lobster roll hot with a crispy exterior and steaming lobster filling.

FAQs

Why is my Lobster Chewy?

Steaming or boiling Ina Garten’s lobster roll will overcook it, making it tough and chewy. Use a meat thermometer to avoid overcooking any meat, including lobster.

Undercooked lobsters can cause diarrhea, stomach pains, nausea, vomiting, and fever for 24 hours due to Vibrio parahaemolyticus bacteria.

Should  Lobster Roll be hot or cold?

When it comes to serving, Ina Garten suggests that you serve your lobster rolls hot, as this will prevent the growth of bacteria.

According to the Department of Agriculture, cold food must be stored at or below 40 degrees Fahrenheit, while hot food must be stored at or above 140 degrees Fahrenheit.
