BELGIAN WAFFLE RECIPE

This simple recipe for traditional Belgian waffles is a surefire success every time. The exterior of these waffles is crisp and golden, while the interior is light and fluffy.

Waffles are a breakfast and brunch staple that has grown in popularity because of their gorgeous golden skin with deep pockets for storing syrup and butter! Every weekend, my family would enjoy these waffles, and I would get up early on weekdays to indulge my craving.

Everyone is familiar with and enjoys ordering waffles at their favorite breakfast places, but they are actually just as simple to cook at home.

Ingredients

  • All-Purpose Flour (about 2 1/4 cups)
  • Baking Powder, 1 Teaspoon
  • 3 tbsp. sugar
  • 1/2 tsp. salt, and
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 Separated Large Eggs
  • 2 Cups of Milk
  • 1 tsp. Vanilla Extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat and spray your waffle iron.
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, sugar, salt, and cinnamon in a large bowl.
  3. Manually whisk egg whites in a medium basin to firm peaks. Reserve.
  4. Mix egg yolks, vegetable oil, milk, and vanilla essence in another medium bowl.
  5. Mix the dry ingredients with the egg yolk mixture.
  6. Fold in egg whites.
  7. Place the batter onto the preheated waffle iron, and proceed to cook it in conformity with the directions provided by the manufacturer.
  8. Serve with butter, syrup, and powdered sugar.
